Governance and coordination launched

During this period, key coordination and management structures were formed under WP1, including the formal establishment of the Steering Group and Advisory Board, the finalization of the draft Consortium Agreement, and the delivery of the project Kick-off Meeting Report. All Work Packages were officially launched through dedicated kick-off meetings and workshops, ensuring early alignment and collaboration. The official Kick-off meeting of the project was organized in Helsinki, on 9-10 September 2025.

Building visibility and engagement

Communication and dissemination activities progressed rapidly. Under WP2, core outputs included the completion of the project brand book, visual communication materials, the Communication and Dissemination Strategy, and publishing of the project website. STOCKPILE also increased its external visibility by establishing a LinkedIn account and participating in the European Public Health Conference 2025. Also, a strong stakeholder group was established, with around 170 participants representing 25 countries. The group unites key stakeholders who help drive the project forward and stay informed of its latest developments.

From planning to implementation

Preparatory work on evaluation and sustainability was launched, with WP3 establishing the foundations for evidence-based monitoring and WP4 starting the development of a sustainability methodology. At the same time, all technical WPs kicked off the work on stockpiling methodologies, coordinated layered stockpiling systems, sustainable stockpile management, training, and regulatory frameworks for the deployment and use of medical countermeasures.

Looking ahead to 2026

The year 2025 of STOCKPILE established an interesting and eventful first year. All Work Packages are now fully operational and progressing towards their objectives for 2026. With a strong base, clear priorities and effective cooperation across all partners, STOCKPILE enters its next phase.
