The event opened with a warm welcome by Prof. Otto Helve of the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), Dr Cristina Santos of Portugal’s National Institute of Health (INSA), and representatives of the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA).
A major part of the programme highlighted the achievements and ongoing work of JA Stockpile’s both the technical (WP6-WP9) and horizontal (WP1-WP5). WP discussions covered topics such as identifying and quantifying MCM stockpiles, developing sustainable stockpile management systems, improving deployment and utilisation processes, and strengthening training, communication, and evaluation activities.
The event also brought together key stakeholders from organisations including the European Commission, the European Medicines Agency (EMA), the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), and other health authorities. Their contributions offered valuable perspectives on preparedness, emergency response, supply chain management, and international cooperation.
The forum concluded with evaluating panel discussion among Work Package leaders and Advisory Board members, reinforcing the project’s commitment to building a more coordinated and sustainable European stockpiling system as JA STOCKPILE moves forward.
